Why this shop exists

Our story

It started with a two year old who would not go to sleep.

This shop exists because of a Tuesday evening that went badly.

It started at bedtime

Alex was tucking his daughter Anja in for the fifth time. She was two, she was not sleeping, and she wanted a story. Not a story from the shelf, one about a princess called Anja who did not want to sleep and went on adventures instead. He was exhausted, and he improvised anyway.

She fell asleep. And the next night she asked for another one.

Then the friends started asking

Anja is the older of two: her sister Ellie came along later, and stories became the way the family handled everything that toddlers make difficult. Being scared of dogs in the park. Vegetables. Becoming a big sister. Alex wrote them on his lunch breaks, one story per problem.

Other parents noticed. They started asking for stories for their own children, and the requests arrived where every parent already lives: on WhatsApp. That is the whole reason TellMeStories works the way it does. Nobody needed another app on their phone.

And then it needed a proper engineer

Alex showed the stories, and the messages from grateful parents, to his friend Julien. They built the thing that now writes personalised bedtime stories for families who ask for them by message.

Where this shop comes in

Writing a story about your child means describing your family: who is in it, what they are like, what they are going through this month. Once that exists, it can be drawn. And once it is drawn, there is no reason it should only live on a phone screen.

So this shop is the last step of the same idea. You describe your family, you see them illustrated, and if you like what you see you can put it on a wall.

See how it works, or read about the stories themselves.
